Most bamboos have a very waxy outer layer which makes them very difficult to stain in their natural condition. Scraping or heavy sanding are labor intensive and they reduce the strength of the bamboo culm. Therefore we prefer to use heat treatment to stain our Guadua bamboo. Finishes such as lacquers or varnish can be applied after burning the outer layer. In this example we will use paste wax.

  • We offer a great paste for finished/unfinished bamboo and woods. Search Google for our new "Sunburst polishing paste". It's 100% natural and preserves/protects.

  • you dont have to drill the holes the reason you are splitting the bamboo is because of how hot the torch is if you turn down the torch you wont have to drill the holes and you wont make it black

  • Hi, what kind of paste is that you are using? (Brand/name?)
