Well, it's certainly blasphemous to criticize Britten and Richter, but isn't it a little too fast?

This version is so full of flavor. It's from an aged performer. It's chalk full of flavor. I love this version. Awesome.... I adore it.

I was going to suggest to you all that you should also try the version with Eschenbach and Frantz. It was then with pleasure that I saw another contributor below recommend the same, alongside the other great recordings of Gilels and Gilels and Perahia and Lupu. And then I noted that the other was me, 11 months ago...

This interpretation touches my soul in a way that is matchless
-
I listen to almost allof youtube interpretations of this piece, i couldnt go further than 2 minutes from the start because of the tempo choice. This interpretation is an extraordinary one, uncomparable to any other. Tempo and intensity of sound/touch dig a path throughout your soul

a wonderful performace...magical

@CarlMariaWeber , it all depends… If you think this is something very melancholic, a bit depressing, very personal, something that makes the soul suffer quietly - than Richter is not for you. He plays different mood: worried, unrest, liberating. It’s not private any more, not a one person’s feeling. As a Russian, I relate more to this interpretation (especially now!), although I do agree with you - Perahia/Lupu's version is magically beautiful…
