Ps I have a highly tuned Focus ST and a standard MPS is a walk in the park to leather! Sounds like someone's been lying to you on how tuned their ST is!

Quite funny how people have been so wound up about this video.

To put the record straight here all the cars on the video are all mates going to a 1/4mile drag race in Scotland.

The ST in question was a heavily tuned ST2 with every engine tuning part available to it.

On that quick sprint the EVO got humped as they both had a count down and went for it.

No one says the evo wouldn't eventually beat the ST On track or 3miles down the line.

The fun was just showing that the ST can tango with the E

PLUS the torque in the ST is 400lbft....... the Evo is probably 300? or there abouts

last time i checked Torque wins races not just BHP!

The EVO is suposedly running 450bhp and gets blown away from a 300bhp ST, highly unlikely. Thats like comparing a 50BHP 1.0 Corsa to a 200BHP 2.0TFSI VW Golf GTI. The ST would NEVER pull that distance on a car running 50% more power than it - FACT

@I'm quoting the figures posted. 450bhp - 70bhp you say in drivetrain loss = 380bhp. The focus is 300bhp with little loss thought the drivetrain say 20bhp.

That leaves you with 380 evo vs 280 st. Yes the focus has higher torque being a 5 cylinder engine but an evo supposedly running 450bhp should still match or exceed to torque of a 300bhp st. The Evo must have had a tonne of sand in the boot to weigh it down to make it closer hahaha

What about the torque? And the AWD system on the Evo? thats easily 70bhp loss through the drivetrain. You are quoting flywheel HP but what are the actual figures at the wheels?

@12389h I'll believe it when i see it. My ST was running 265 bhp (roughly) and was a tiny bit quicker than an MPS, especially at higher speeds. However i will give you (and many other people) the EVO thing. Bare in mind that i drive high performance cars for a living, there is absolutely no way in heaven or hell that, in a straight line or other wise with 2 drivers of equal ability, a 300bhp Focus that weighs more would be quicker than a 450bhp EVO that weighs less. Its just not possible.

300hp Focus STs struggle against me in a stock Mazda 3 MPS.

I've also raced an Evo FQ360 and I could barely keep up in the MPS. So I know there is no way a 300hp ST can beat a 450hp Evo.
