mmm.. your question is very interesting... and yet difficult to explain, if we're talking about why they had those hostages we're talking about kind of a way to push the government, those hostages were what the farc calls political hostages in the case of Ingrid Betancourt and other politicians, or POWs in the case of the other guys, but what you don't see is the other people, common people being kidnapped for money reasons, there're many reasons,e mail me if you want a detailed explanation

on another note, why is it these evil people rise up the ranks to gain power in these countries? ( im canadian ) i just can't understand it, its astonishing how people can be so horrible. and yet gain political power, which in turn relates to military power.

Thank you for confirming what we already new. I am Colombian myself and I am glad that the world is hearing what this "animals" to decent hardworking Colombians in my country. I am glad the world gets to hear this from an American and maybe realize what really goes on in las Farc. Oh yeah..Chavez, Correa and Evo ....thank you for supporting such terrorist groups.
