Inspired by chateau Vaux-le-Vicomte near Paris, France, the mansion situated at 1851 Turbeville Road appears to be a 17th century masterpiece long settled in its peaceful countryside. In fact, it was built in 2002. Champ d'Or was the product of five years of meticulous planning, construction and craftsmanship. Not only is the house perfect for entertaining and living on a grand scale, but the materials used are also among the finest, such as the Baccarat chandelier in the entry hall and candelabras that decorate the master. The 25-acre estate comprises the approximately 36,000 square-foot mansion, an adjacent one-and-a-half-acre lake, formal gardens, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a tennis court, a pool/tennis house and two matching guardhouses, and a 15-car garage - all of which are surrounded by beautiful land dotted with native Texas trees. The mansion's genuine old-world opulence is fitted with 21st century amenities. Consider: A dome with a ceiling height of 78 feet; a ballroom with mirrors patterned after Versailles; a garden room where windows descend electronically, opening to a veranda that seats 450 for dinner; a two-story Chanel®-styled closet, a weight room and a steam room in the master suite; a theater; a bowling alley and a racquetball court. Within a gated entry, a landscaped esplanade leads to the front of the stone mansion, which is surrounded by gracious terraces. Double doors open to the spectacular, two-story entry hall, featuring marble floors, a crystal chandelier and graceful archways, and flanked by the grand salon and library. At the end of the center hallway, a double stairway leads up the circular core of the home, which opens to every floor and reaches a ceiling height of 78 feet at the top of the dome. Garlanded millwork decorates the light-filled grand salon, boasting a carved stone mantel and an arched bay of double-tiered French windows framed by pilasters. Such quality continues through the formal dining room, the family room, the conservatory, the gourmet cook's kitchen, the magnificent master suite and the numerous additional rooms within this estate. The chateau is located near Lewisville Lake, just 15 minutes north of Willowbend Shopping Center in Dallas and 15 minutes east of the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. The property boasts easy access to Interstate 35E and to the new Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge, an east-west connection between I35 and the Dallas North Tollway.

Champ d'Or. Easy to access. Difficult to leave.

  • Say what you want about this place, but I absolutely love it! If I had the dough, I would buy it and become a hermit here.
