The inimitable Sam Harris briefly discusses why he regards the 2,000 year old morals of the scriptures as highly dangerous with regard to today's modern societies and our world population in combination with the effect it has on individuals themselves. The causative effects of religion are widely known and emphasized daily with massive religiously motivated unnecessary violence and quite profoundly visible in the religiously inspired attacks of 9/11.

  • "Inimitable.."? (So no-one could imitate him?) Not sure I agree.

    Good guy, nonetheless

  • @Tj930

    OK, thanks for watching!

  • To cry or to bite?

Three-year-olds have this problem when their playmates have yet to use language to communicate simple thoughts. Unlike religious kooks, 3-year-olds grow out of this phase.

  • @zippyman818

    LOL! So very true Z.

  • "We dont have to believe anything on insufficient evidence..." - Sam Harris!!

Well, what about atheism? That's a believe system and insufficient evidence. Sorry, Sami, you are contradicting yourself.

  • @jml04

WRONG! Atheism IS NOT a "system of belief" you Kook. Atheism says WE DON'T KNOW, NOR DOES ANYONE, SO STOP PUSHING MAN-MADE RUBBISH ON PEOPLE AS IF IT'S FACTS, IT IS NOT. religions are ALL trash, Man-Made Trash, period. Read the bible, try hosea 13:16 first. Moral? LOL! Yeah, Murdering Pregnant Women is real "moral," LOL! What sick Filth for Primitive Kooks.

  • @zippyman818 agree with you 100%. religious commentators make me want to cry, or bite someone.

  • @AOPrinciple they are wrong, if simply for the reason that they don't change when new evidence floods in. The stance of religion on the meaning of life, morals and all the other philosophical questions is the same as it was 200 years ago.

  • @jml04 atheism is not a belief system. It is a stance that one takes on for the lack of evidence. You wouldn't call my being sure that there is no teapot flying in an orbit around the sun a belief, would you? Unless you call the appearance of something vaguely resembling a woman on a toast evidence, there is. no. evidence. for. the. existence. of. god.

  • @AOPrinciple

All man-made religions are a joke, and that's 100% of religion. There is NO "god" created religion anywhere on Earth. In 1,000 years, the only creatures who will believe in religion will be where they should be, prisons and mental hospitals. religion is for the weak of mind and body, as Einstein said, it's childish superstition. Atheism IS NOT a system of belief, it is sanity. Atheism simply says "we don;t know how it got here, NOBODY KNOWS. And if you say you do, YOU'RE LYING!!
