@delsolarie not an expert but i believe they are "de-beaked" so they dont peck other birds. This is the first ive seen a de-beaking so i just assume thats what its for. I do know that its a common practice to clamp a tab around the beak to prevent pheasant loss from pecking.
People who de-beak their animals need to be de-nosed.
