  • Riz Khan is a gr8 interviewer.

Never heard of him b4. Does he work for al zazeera ?

  • She may want to transform Indian male s who dont reflect the vedic/enlightened minds.

Actions speak louder than words. Many Indian men simply living a life that doesn't reflects the superior civilization we had once - yes there r, all these wounds from invading warlords that left its scars on the culture that r healing slowly.

  • I wish she directs Shantaram!!! and does it fast..cant wait to see that movie!!!!

  • My disliking her aside, I feel that indian cinema is very diverse its not all Bollywood/Hindi films ... I like Tamil and Telugu cinema as well as Independent Hindi films that are not the usual song and dance films. Honestly when i watch indian films i prefer masala type of films ... its what Indian cinema does best. I have seen some "independent" hindi films recently one being Mumbai Meri Jaan and the other being A Wednesday both about terrorism. I just feel she is not indian cinema.

  • Indians go to see Bollywood films aswell as independent indian cinema and Hollywood films, altough most films dont make it theough the bans. Bring something intelligent on the screen for change is plus point, u can say the same about western films, u can count the good ones on one hand.

(ok, now i feel better after this long comment - i agree with T8R, dont put yourself in a box, try and appreciate different kinds of cinema.. and if Deepa is not "new" who would u recommend??)

  • U might not appreciate this kind of cinema, but what i dont understand is the comparision to slumdog (wich is a shame to indian culture and cinema i think) and what is it about bashing the indian male? women have a very low position in the indian society, so that one director is able to point out the problem through her films is a good thing. Everything is always about men.

  • I've seen u commenting on other videos of Deepa..

I havnt seen her work yet, but i cant wait. I'm new to Bollywood, and ive been to India for a couple of months, so i can say that it's refreshing to see an "indepenant" indian cinema, not affraid to talk about women issues. And most probably do it in a beautifully written way with a fantastic cinematography.

  • I admire her as a director. She has brought many taboo issues of indian society into the limelight.

  • Seriously? You hate her, because she thinks she's doing good work? Wow, you are a petty individual.

That's because she DOES do good work exposing these things. Slumdog did not make her movies look like crap, even though it may have been better. I can find room to appreciate her movies, as well as slumdog millionaire. I guess you're just incapable of any thought beyond the complexity of "I think something was better, that means everything else is crap I hate it".

  • I hate this lady she thinks she does such good work for exposing all these things ... and slum dog comes along and makes all of her movies look like crap when she is has been making movies for like 10 years ...
