I wouldn't hate on the plastic. Polycarb is superstrong. Functionally as strong as steel for this purpose. In fact, I'd say with the plastic you're likely to get less friction leading to less wear and tear on parts than the metal. Not to mention that the polycarb is lighter than metal meaning overall better performance when the spring has less weight to move. I fully support the move to polycarb, although metal does look cooler in clear blasters.
