A short piece based on a passage from Iain M. Banks' "The Algebraist". It's my first realtime piece in a long time - it uses the motion of live neon tetras in a tank to control half of the sound. Made in/on Max/MSP/Jitter, ProTools, FinalCut, and a Novation K Station.

  • @Flyberius I had several 'laugh out loud' moments...all because of Dwellers. Great book.

  • Very Good. It really captures the sense of loneliness and isolation that the AI in question must have been feeling as it overwrote its memory banks with this passage. Sends chills down my spine listening to this.

I love this book and hope that Iain would indulge us with a sequel or another book with the dwellers. I found them most entertaining.

  • It started off great then became 3 minutes of distortion. This should be labeled as an Extratone music video.

  • Very nice. The Algebraist was a superb story

  • Sounds dreadfully quiet...otherwise it sounds excellent, just crank up the volume!

  • great!!!
