"African Dance": This video is number 4 in a series of new high definition (HD 1080i) videos I shot on my drum study trip to Conakry, Guinea, West Africa to study with djembe masters and West African dancers. This is a Dundunba community drum and dance party where dancers take turns showing their unique and interesting dance moves in the streets. Djembe masters and djembe drumming! Filmed in "HD", (high definition).

  • look at the African Diaspora in the Caribbean:

I'm guadeloupean in guadeloupe there's Gwo ka (lewoz), Martinique island: bèlè, peurto rico: la bomba, look drum garifuna (belize) and other drum in caribbean (dominican haiti...etc).

  • 1:01 great dance

  • @etanielyehuda I actually read somewhere that sabar was a woman's dance (despite the similar aggressiveness) and traditional done around religious settings. Also, that men who do it are more so looking for tips like dancers vs. the dance for the dance sake. I would like to know the answer as well though if this is untrue.

  • When I first started watching 'Dununba' videos, it felt semi-aggressive and athletic. So, I assumed it started out as a male dance. Then, I did a little research and it was confirmed. Question to any Guinea Conakry natives.....when did it become acceptable for women to do this dance in public? The same goes for Sabar dance in Senegal....started out as male street dance, now, women and men dance Sabar. Thanks!

  • so this is where crumpin stemmed form
