Siemens Bosch Washing machine software problem

The machine presented in the video is the Scandinavian version of Extraklasse (8kg / 1600 rpm / year 2010), model WM16S770DN/06. The purpose of this video is to illustrate an algoritmic error in the software. The problem only affects the M1 laundry program and its suggested amount of detergent. According to the director of service dpt. this behavior is normal as it is seen on many models on Scandinavian market. This problem is not a serious mechanical failure but it sure works differently than one could expect from the marketing material and instructions manual. The most stupid part is that these M1 and M2 programs are the most commonly used and this is just claimed to be "normal" and there is no cure for it. Luckily, for example Toyota didn't declare their cars' serious safety problems as normal behaviour by the fact that the problems exist on most of their cars. They had the guts to announce it and fix the problem. Of course, it is a different and more serious problem altogether... but I trust you viewers to get the point.

Der Zweck dieses Videos ist es, eine Fehler mit ein Algorithmus in der Software zu verdeutlichen. Das Problem mit der Waage ist nur mit dem M1-Programm. Die Betrag an Waschmittel gezeigt funktioniert nicht richtig. Laut dem Direktor des Dienstes Abteilung dieses Verhalten ist normal, wie es bei vielen Modellen auf skandinavischen Markt gesehen wird. Dieses Problem ist nicht eine ernsthafte mechanisches Versagen aber es sicher anders funktioniert als man aus dem Broschüre und die Gebrauchsanleitung zu erwarten.

Syftet med den här videon är att klargöra ett fel med en algoritm i programvaran. Problemet med skalan är bara med M1 Program. Det belopp som visas tvättmedel som inte fungerar korrekt. Enligt direktören för serviceavdelning är detta beteende normalt, som kan ses på många modeller på den skandinaviska marknaden. Detta problem är inte ett seriöst mekaniskt fel men det säkert fungerar annorlunda än du förväntade dig från broschyren och manualen.

Ja vielä Suomeksi... eli Siemens huippulaatua. Laitteen ohjelmistossa on algoritmivrhe, josta johtuen pesuainesuositus ei toimi yhden ohjelman kohdalla oikein. Oleellista tässä tietysti on se, että kyseinen ohjelma, ja tietysti myös M2, ovat eniten käytettyjä, koska "tavallisiin" ohjelmiin ei tallennu edes tieto viimeeksi käytetystä lämpötilasta. Koska tällaista ominaisuutta markkinoidaan, eikä ohjekirjassakaan kerrota, miksei sen tulisi toimia kaikilla pesuohjelmilla normaalisti, niin mielestäni tässä on aivan selvä ohjelmointivirhe. Maahantuojan huollon mukaan kone toimii normaalisti, koska "kaikissa muissakin samanlaisissa koneissa se toimii niin". Onneksi sentään autonvalmistajat eivät ihan näin hienosti asioita käsittele: olisihan Toyotakin voinut todeta kaasuläppäongelmastaan, että se on sille automallille tyypillistä, koska kaikissa niissä on sama ongelma! Onneksi tämä nyt ei ole ihan niin vakava tapaus...

I'm from denmark and I also experienced some erratic behaviour on my 2 yr. old Siemens WM16S762DN/18.

Do you have access to a WM16S-series Service-manual and will you care to share your sources with me? :-)

@stickmenwithrayguns Sorry, I don't know about the service manual except for the online parts catalogue.

My aim was to demonstrate that such a big company w/higher class brand has very lousy support. Our importer took it back and gave a refund. I see this error as a proof of cheap design and bad service. It was rattling, clicking, knocking, rumbling very loud. I changed to Miele: found no programming errors, no extra noises, flashable software. Hope it lasts :-)

I have a Bosch WAS32472.ch, 8kg, 1600RPM Logixx8, year 2010, and my machine has the same bug.

Not as dramatic like brake failure on a car.
