they abso-fucking-lutely need to obtain artist permission for copyrighted material produced by anyone in a public forum (such as commercials and public appearances). Private uses of songs are fine, but they are getting in trouble because they aren't using it in the private setting.

I think these companies that want things like sopa have to realize that if the internet really was censored we wouldn't really have it that bad. Nowadays there are talented YOUNG singers, writers, actors, programmers, and artists that post their own ORIGINAL content on things like youtube. IFF we lost access to the mainstream music artists we would most likely default to the artists that love the art their creating. In conclusion BRING IT ON SOPA.
