Chief Executive Officer
Dear Friends of ICR:
As you may have heard by now, the ICR Graduate School's application to grant degrees in Texas was rejected yesterday by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Many of our friends and constituents have been praying for us during this time, and we thank you for your intercession and your help.
Below is the statement that ICR has released to the media regarding the state's decision.

Dallas, April 25, 2008 - Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) Commissioner Raymund Paredes on Wednesday recommended that the Institute for Creation Research Graduate School (ICRGS) be denied a Certificate of Authority to grant degrees in the state. On Thursday, the Board voted unanimously to accept Paredes' recommendation.
Paredes issued his recommendation, formulated in advance, despite the approval of both the THECB Site Team, which evaluated the ICRGS in November 2007, and the THECB Advisory Committee that affirmed the Site Team's approval in December 2007. He rejected both reports as "flawed" and instead convened a separate panel of scientists and science educators that advised him not to approve the ICRGS application. ICRGS scientists and faculty were not included in or allowed to respond to this panel.
On Thursday, Joe Stafford, Assistant Commissioner for Academic Affairs and Research, read into record a Texas Education Code statute about preventing public deception in the face of "fraudulent" or "substandard" college and university degrees. ICRGS representatives present at the meeting were not allowed to respond to this mischaracterization of the graduate program.
The manner in which the hearing was conducted was characterized by viewpoint discrimination. Prior to Wednesday's consideration of the ICRGS application, THECB committee chairperson Lyn Bracewell Phillips allowed public testimony for 30 minutes on the ICRGS application. Several political activists, including Steven Schafersman--who had evidently not reviewed the ICRGS application materials--launched ad hominem attacks against the credibility and reputation of the ICRGS and its faculty.
Critics have attempted to draw false associations between the ICRGS program and attempts to introduce religion into taxpayer-funded public schools, even though the ICRGS is a private postgraduate institution seeking to train science educators for private schools.
Questions have surfaced concerning the treatment of the ICRGS application by THECB officials and whether Commissioner Paredes and his agency altered the normal process of application review because of external pressures based on ideological biases against the ICRGS.
Under Texas law, the ICRGS may appeal the decision of the Commission or seek other remedies as appropriate.

Please continue to pray for ICR as we consult with our Board and experts in the field regarding the next step to take in this process. Be assured that ICR is committed to cutting-edge scientific research, advanced education in the sciences for teachers, and the passionate communication of the wonders of God's creation.
May our Lord Jesus Christ bless you as you seek to serve Him.

Lets say there is an Intelligent Designer...Now you have an even bigger problem to solve!
WHO DESIGNED THE DESIGNER?
You would have to answer that question.

Do what? Ignorance?Science does not tell people what can and cannot be studied...You watch to much Ben Stein & FOX News. You submit your work with evidence to support your work it...You don't just say I have a theory and by default it is considered to be an equal theory, THAT IS ABSURD!
If there is an Intelligent Designer then someone should present the evidence for peer review!
The problem is there is not a shred of evidence for a magical being who poofed the world into existence, period!

No, Im pretty sure, Davinci, wasnt even a scientist, but he jump started the industrial revolution before it even happened. Science is science, & we cant afford this kind of ignorance where people tell others whats allowed and not allowed to be studied. You cant erase the possible of an intelligent designer by using Darwins theorys as athiest rhetoric.
It doesnt work that way, Neo-darwinism still leaves ALOT of questions, that some of us want answered.

ID is promoted & funded through the Discovery Institute a Conservative Christian think tank. They lead the fight to get it forced into Public Schools & Universities because they know they do not have one shred of scientific evidence to support their claims.
You said you do not deny life evolved...Well, according to the Discovery Inst. you are not a true Christian! Maybe you do not claim to be? If not, then I do not see why you are defending ID as it has nothing to offer but Biblical Myth.
SkyDaddy7 2 years ago
I am using Evolution as an answer to everything? Everything in the sense of how every lifeform on earth evolved? YES!
As for everything else there are fields of science for that as well.
The problem with ID is not that some are picking on people who support ID, there is no evidence for it...And PLEASE tell me what there is to study when it comes to ID other than "god did it"?
ID is a Christian idea born out of the creation myth of the Bible...It is not science nor can it be studied.

Man u just dont get it do u? we've really just hit the tip of the iceberg, with DNA research, and Im not saying life doesnt evolve, youre using evolution as an answer to everthing, and it isnt!!! An opinion & a theory are two different things. And it is ture, people are constantaly under fire for beleive in ID, & wanting to study it, by people, like dawkins, hitchens ect. who act as dictators who want to attack anyone who disagrees with your neo darwinian rhetoric.

There is NOT ONE signature of ID in any DNA!! If there were it would be on the front pages of the NYT!
The vastness of time & space says nothing about a creator & the Cell evolved!
The vision comes from understanding what is sound science...Opinion is not science!
The problem with many Christians is they want something to be true so they say it is...When that does not work then they say they are being excluded from the science by arrogant Atheist who do not like opposing views. NOT TRUE!

"No one is trying to compromise science"
You have to be joking, right?
If the ID crowd wants to enter the science areana then they have to provide evidence for their claims not demand their claims be heard or taught in public schools!!
Science is not about popularity of opinion!
Christians like to think this is the case so they can say they have an opinion too that must be heard...Science does not work this way!
SkyDaddy7 2 years ago
Signatures of ID in DNA coding, the vastness of time and space, the allignment of the solar system, the complexity oft the single cell organism. Oh, but what does any of that have to do with science?!!? What if we could be sure everything in existance had a purpose, & we found what each purpose was. What if every plant had some kind of healing property we didnt know about? I respect your right to disagree, but u lack vision IMO.
PsychoticSpasm 2 years ago
Well I'm not either, just stating my difference of opion. Dude, u need to understand, no one is trying to compramise science, or tell u what to believe. Just people searching for scientific evidence of an intelligent creator. Freedom of scientific research applies just as much to those u dont agree with as yourself. How would u feel if I was one of those Christians that was convinced the earth was only 6k yo, & I somehow conviced the dean to force everyone to work within those constructs?
