I liked the American version of Godzills. Even though, deep down, I knew it wasn't the original version. Reason why I preferred the 1998 one over the other one mainly because I liked the Godzilla is portrayed in this version. As for the Japanese version where he looks like some giant, mutated Barney. Just my personal preferences, no need to disrespect anybody.

I don't even know how it got in my house to begin with. Just recently, I took a look at it for the first time ever. When it was over, I thought, "Not bad for something from the fifties." I can't believe this franchise has about 28 sequels, one remake, and another film coming out in 2014. I'm not going to go "geek" and look for every one of them, because I'm sure it's going to be a waste of time and money, and I know that I might be 30 or 40 years old by the time I have them all.

You're not the only one who's been on the same boat. I had an interest in the 1998 film, too, when I was young. But my path was slightly different, even though it went in the same direction as your's. The very first of the originals that I saw was "Terror of Mechagodzilla," and it sucked ass. I was so bored from that; like "bored to death." Then I found out that the "Americanized" version of the original 1954/1956 film was hidden in my house for who knows how many years.

I am from India. Nostalgically remember this trailer. We didn't have internet in homes then, at least not in mine. You got to see trailers, Hollywood news or of releases only when they aired them on TV and that Star Movies or HBO. Fondly remember waiting to see trailers. This one blew me over then. Me dad took me n my sis for the film. Enjoyed it as a kid. Pretty average film and a bad trailer when I look back now, but still fondly remembered. Love Hollywood with all its cheese.
