The current wave of foreclosures is hitting people who are no longer able to pay their mortgage because they have lost their job. As Ben Tracy reports, loan modification programs are not keeping up.

  • Wouldn't it make more sense for the banks to "work with the people" to have atleast something coming in?...I mean what are the banks gona do with a bunch of properties that no one's living in? It doesen't benefit them, sends people out on the street, and nobody wins. To top it all off, people are trashing their homes out of frustration and/or selling everything but the kitchen sink (in some cases that too) before they leave.

    It's just a big mess!!

  • Where is the husband?

  • No, in most cases they forgive the past due amount, when you have a good negociator the bank wont tack on junk fees they do that to get the most amount of money from the misinformed homeowner. The banks are the scam artist, theres programs in place right now that they dont inform the average consumer about. Ive even seen cases where the 2nd note was forgiven all together.

  • Are you serious, a scam?? I know first hand modifications work, its so troublesome to see most homeowers are really informed. When you approach your lender, do you know what they are looking for to be approved?? probly not, your trusty lender dosent let you know the quailfications but they are approving people on a daily basis, those that are quailifed that is. Theres certain criteria they look for and evry bank is diffrent, you need to hire someone who knows how these things work to be approved

  • All loan modifications do is add the missed payments, and junk fees, to your balance and temporarily give you relief with a lower payment. Once people find out there's no debt forgiveness (talking about California only) included in the loan mod., they're ready to bail.

  • Modification is a scam. Bank Of America told me I dont' make enough money for a modification...WTF? Isn't that the point? They told me to rent out rooms. Nice. Thanks Obama.

  • 395,000 was too much in the first place.
