Raisin was born in August of 1999. She was everything to me, especially since my husband and I did not have children at the time. She was like our daughter. She came from a puppy mill, born by breeders who only did it for the money. She was very ill, but we still took her in and gave her TLC.
Raisin grew up to be the best pei anyone could ever ask for! She loved to chew on clothes hangers, eat mac and cheese, sleep in the sunshine, and she loved her toy monkies. Although we did not know it at the time and until it was too late, Raisin dealt with FSF, Amyloidosis, also know as Sharpei Fever. After many horrible bouts with the fever, it finally took a toll on her body and she went into renal failure. After a long, suffering week at the vet's office without improvement, my husband and I said our goodbyes as we made the decision to have Raisin put to eternal sleep. Our baby was only due in two more months and I wanted more then anything for Raisin to meet our little boy.
If you have a pei, please educate yourself and teach others about this awful disease. No other pei should have to go through this.
This video is dedicated to "Chocolate Covered Raisin," aka, "Ray Ray."
It is set to the song by REO Speedwagon called "In My Dreams."
My shar pei also died from this disease. He just went limp one day and I had to carry him to the vet. My family decided there wasn't anything that could really be done, so we had to put him to sleep. He was only 5 years old.

Your baby Raisin was beautiful.. I am sure she had a happy life and felt loved and wanted during the time she had with you.. Wherever she is, she will always be looking out for you.. My boy Dante came to our lives 3 years ago he had year and eye problems but thank god no fever.. He's now the happiest and most loving boy anyome could have.. He was used as a stud for breeding he never left his cage, knew love or a hug.
