The Kinect allows tracking of users without additional markers. We develop a magic mirror that generated an overlay of a video image with volume visualization from a CT volume. Such a system could be used for education of anatomy. (by Tobias Blum, Nassir Navab)

  • Is the plan to use this as a medical tool with a patients ct scan in real time?

Even as is; it would be amazing at a doctors office.. it would be a lot more fun than waiting and possibly educational if bones were labeled... then you can move on to organs!

  • @jonamato For this magic mirror we do not want to use CT data of the same patient. This is more for educational use. However we have other projects where we use a head-mounted display to allow overlay of CT data of the same patient to assist surgery (see the other videos in our channel)

  • i am not catch the one thing: it shows real skeleton or just images?

  • @CaptainUkraine It shows a skeleton from a 3D CT volume. The 2D image overlay is computed in real-time from the CT volume. However the CT is from another person.

  • I wonder if you could link two or more Kinects and get better 3-D tracking? I would assume labs have already tried this, but with this system, it might put more advanced augmented reality tech in the hands of non-experts.

  • @Oathblivion Using two kinect could certainly improve the tracking. But at the moment we are trying to solve some other problems that are more important. First, the CT data does not exactly fit to the person in front of the screen. And the CT is rigid. I think we have to solve these things before improving the tracking.

  • cooooool

  • COOL!!!

  • i think it would be better if it showed ur whole body skeleton . however this is still cool :D good job

  • FAKE

  • Damn;)

  • @yanivcogan1 At the moment it shows the CT of another person. When we use it for educational purposes we would only use CT of other persons

  • KINECT - it only does EVERYTHING!!!!

  • awasome- but does it shows you your own skeleton from a CT scaning or a model of a regular person.

because I dont want to do a CT
