People that dismiss John Mayer as "just another pop idol" really miss a lot with this guy. Here he is on stage with a couple of legends, and he is grooving right with them. Think about how many other contemporary pop stars, or pop stars at all for that matter, that you see on stage with Paul Simon. The list is short.

Randy Jackson was a session bass player back in the day, he's a nasty musician

I was @ this show at the Rock Hall in Cleveland in 2003.....I can still see myself in audience.....show was private, surreal and will never leave my memory. I was backstage after and walked past John to greet Paul with a hug and kiss...he was so gracious, kind and real....as i always "knew."

Summer 2004. It was just before Daughers was released as a single.

He did a lot of arranging and production stuff, like for Mariah Carey, for instance.

Randy Jackson played bass for many rock bands on tour in the 80's. Michael Bolton, Journey, George Michael.
