We are planning to create a self-sufficient, sustainable, student-run biodiesel production system at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN. The system will be used to convert waste vegetable oil into environmentally responsible biodiesel fuel that can be used in any university diesel-fueled engines. The fuel will be used by Vanderbilt vehicles such as student activity vans, buses, and landscaping machinery. The ultimate goal will be to curb the consumption of petroleum-based fuel by the Vanderbilt community with a system that is economically and environmentally sustainable. In turn, this program will educate others about the viability of biodiesel as an effective alternative fuel. We made this video at the end of November for our grant application for GE and mtvU's Ecomagination Challenge. Please vote for us on their website: ecocollegechallenge.com
