A plane diverted from London Heathrow due to the freezing artic weather conditions has fallen off the taxi-way at Birmingham Airport.

The Emirates Dubai flight EK029, a Boeing 777-300ER, was carrying 282 passengers and landed routinely at 1354 GMT 21/12/2010.

While proceeding to the terminal, it "inadvertently" taxied on to the grass, leaving a set of wheels stuck. It was unfortunate for the Emirates - Boeing 777-36N(ER) A6-ECO CN 37706 LN 765 Config F8C42Y304.

The Guinness Book of World Records recognized the engine GE90-115B as the "World's Most Powerful Commercial Jet Engine.

  • We've been voted Best UK Airport by ‘Which? Travel’ members, in the large airports category. This is great news for us & all of you that travel using our airport. Read the full article here >>>

  • Was it the pilot's fault for failing a u-turn or the tower's fault for giving the wrong gate number?

  • They should of unleashed the full potential of the GE90-115B

  • This isnt such a big thing, i fly the 777 and i have done this, as too have most of my collegues. It is harder to taxi in ice conditions than any other. The reason being that the runways are generally cleared better than the taxi ways so we often find it hard to map out the edges from the cockpit. With the wheels being behind us we swing out what we percieve as the edge only to see that it wasn't. The difference though is how much you come off the edge. for me never like this "yet" lol

  • Throttle that bitch and skeet skirt outta there!

  • wow it didn't seem like he was on the grass from this angle?what happened?did everyone have to get off the airplane right there or was it able to be towed to the gate?

  • @ZARTTTTTT obvious troll is obvious

  • @skybrex Apologies, it was a diversion from Heathrow

  • @skybrex It wasn't a diversion, its the EK39 scheduled service from DXB-BHX. Basically there is a very tight turn when entering the apron, all we have to go on is the camera as the main gear is a long way behind the flight deck. Most of the taxi way was covered in snow so there was no clear edge. The crew cut the corner, unknowingly because of the conditions and they dropped a wheel. BHX has very narrow taxiways and is the shortest runway EK land on with the 777.

  • @ZARTTTTTT

For your information: most of Emirates' pilots are British. The CEO is British. And Emirates is arguably one of the best airlines in the world.

  • @ZARTTTTTT "riding camels"??? most of their pilots are non-arabs.

and anyways, what a stupid thing to say!!
