A simple movie on the early American worship song "Simple Gifts". The music background was created in a live performance in Riverside, California on a Taylor 914 and Guitar Rig 2 looping software.

  • This hymn is one of the strongest manifestations and personifications of true, unadulterated Americana. This hymn, like poetry, is the essence of the United States, and the embodiment of the Good things in this country. Sadly, this idea, this concept, this song even, are incomprehensible for most in this age of chaos, confusion and of standards and values long cast off and dismissed as archaic and ridiculous. Thank you for posting this special piece.

  • wow I was just trying to find any old version and was completely in awe of this

  • @SilverDoe6 they were dancing in worship silver watch the video again. It is a worship song

  • This is a Shaker dance song NOT a hymn or worship song, everyone.

  • I picked this to be played at the funeral of my sweetie of 20+ years: it is a fine piece of music

  • This hymn really helped my girlfriend and I during a rough time. Even though that relationship ended unfortunately, I still love this song and reminds me to keep moving and that everything is a gift, no matter how simple. Plus, I love the looping at 1:25 on.

  • @therockabillysweetie

So far as I know their view on the state was identical to the regular Quakers and, like me, the Anabaptists. They wouldn't have pledged allegiance or served in any capacity that caused violence. They would have done good for the sake of their neighbors like working as nurses for wounded soldiers etc. though.

  • Remember, it's not a solemn hymn. It is a reel--for dancing. Every action was a prayer for the Shakers, including a joyous dance.

  • this is fantastic...can i use this in a video i am making?
