In 1988, Evelyn "Champagne" King scored her final career Top 10 R&B hit with "Hold On To What You've Got", from the Flirt LP. The song's tango-ish/house music/Disco sound was a bit new from everything else that played on Urban radio at the time, influencing more artists and producers (such as C&C Music Factory) to further experiment with the sound. Even Madonna's "Vogue" is fairly reminiscent of the tune's arrangement, as well as its video. This record no doubt displayed King's versitility in music. The song was also a Top 10 hit on the Dance Charts and received massive club play. Enjoy this classic record and video.

CLASSIC HOUSE MUSIC,Definitively Had The David Cole & Robert Clivilles C&C MUSIC FACTORY Touch All The Way,They Later Wrote Some Songs For MARTHA WASH & Others That Used This Formula as Well,TAKIN OVER,& I FOUND LOVE The Remix Version,Alas This Sound Died Out When David Cole (RIP) Did. House Music has Never Been The Same Since. There Are A Few DJ/REMIXER/PRODUCERS Who have Incorporated This Sound in Some of Their Offerings,QUENTIN HARRIS,DAVID MORALES & FRANKIE KNUCKLES,etc etc etc. Nuff Said!

I think Evelyn "Champagne" King should do a movie about her childhood and her very own life style. She could use that video from 1988: Hold On and turn that into a movie.
