Dr. Michael Houghton: Fundng Li Ka Shing Institute of Virology

For many years, Alberta universities -- particularly the University of Alberta -- have deliberately amassed and developed strong research capacity and capability in infectious diseases. We have worked in alignment with the post-secondary institutions and with industry, to create the Virology Institute at the University of Alberta.

Dr. Michael Houghton, Canadian Excellence in Research Chair in Virology, talks about the funding Alberta Innovates gives for the Li Ka Shing Institute of Virology. That funding goes to attracting and training students as well as continuing excellence in research.
