A robbery at a Stanton drug store ends with the suspect wounded and behind bars.
Police say 24-year-old John Wilkerson of Big Spring walked into the Stanton Drug Store demanding prescription drugs.
Witnesses say Wilkerson threatened the store manager with pulling a gun but all he had was his hand wrapped under a black towel.
After taking some drugs, Wilkerson tried to flee but he didn't go far because he left his keys locked inside his car.
One of the witnesses told CBS 7 what happened.
Kyle Kendall, Manager of Stanton Drug says, "Just waved his hand around and had a jacket or something draped over his hand trying to indicate he had a weapon under there but he never said he did or anything but we just assumed he did."
Wilkerson was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital and released.
He is now at the Martin County Jail waiting to be arraigned.
Update:
He has been named 2008 Bonehead of the Year by Radio Station RockTrax104
