Brad Roberts and Ellen Reid talk about the band and where it all started: the Blue Note Café in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Trivia:
Ellen Reid comments that her (singing) influences include The Roches and Maria McKee:

Before the debut of their first album (The Ghosts That Haunt Me) the band covered at least two songs from Lone Justice of which Maria McKee was part of: "Working Late" and "Soap, Soup and Salvation" in which Ellen sings lead.

Suzzy Roche, of The Roches, sings back-up on the Crash Test Dummies 2004 album "Songs of the Unforgiven".

Behind Brad is a stuffed Fred Flinstone doll from The Flintstones cartoon. On the 1994 "The Flintstones: Music From Bedrock" movie soundtrack the song "In the Days of the Caveman" by Crash Test Dummies makes an apperance.

Benjamin Darvill is seen jamming on harmonica to the song he wrote, "Thick-Necked Man", for the album "The Ghosts That Haunt Me".

  • Dude THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for putting this up. I've been looking for CTD interviews on the internet for a few years and haven't found any. I don't suppose you have Crash Test Dude or some of the early Dummies interview-video thingys? There's one in particular they released but I can't remember the name of it...

  • I do have Crash Test Dude on both CD and Video. I have LOTS of live stuff and interviews too. If you can describe it to me I may have it.

  • Several disturbing questions are raised by this:

Where are all these music videos from The Ghosts That Haunt Me?

Who is the drummer in the Androgenous video?

IS Ben Darvill an alien, and is that why he could not be interviewed?

  • I have uploaded all the music videos from "The Ghosts That Haunt Me" album earlier this week. Just click my user name to find them.

Yep, it is indeed Mitch Dorge. However, it was Vince Lambert who played all the drums on that whole album.

Ben is not an alien and I don't see him being camera shy. He was an actor in plays and movies before joining the group. I'm sure that it was Brad's decision that only him and Ellen were in the interview.
