Bob Glaze (aka Cowboy Bob) born in 1942, first appeared on WTTV in 1963 on Jack Noels (Bloomington) Happy Valley Show. He joined the WTTV staff on June 6, 1966 as a camera operator on the Bloomington-based Bob Cook's RFD-4 and The Bernie Nicolei Breakfast Show where he also appeared. His first appearance in Indianapolis was with Mary Ellen Reed when he played Harley Slarp, her boy friend on "Popeyes Diner".

He was known as "Mountain Dew Bob" on Janies show when they did a Mountain Dew jingle together. That lead to a Parade with Janie in Columbus, Indiana where he was actually deemed "Cowboy Bob" by a local businessman. Don Tillman hired him to replace Mary Ellen Reed's Lunch Time Theater and his show premiered at noon on January 7, 1970. Chuckwagon Theater was born!

  • @LP61RI In the sixties, Janie came on after school and was on twice. She was on at 4 to 5 pm. Then the Rocky Show until 5:15. The Janie from 5:15 to 6pm. Then Huckleberry Hound, or Woody Woodpecker or The King Features Trilogy, which featured Snuffy Smith, Beetle Bailey and Krazy Kat. This is probably what you remember.

  • Cowboy Bob was cool. Came on at noon. Janie came on before school. Later Popeye and Peggy came on after school. I remember before Janie had a program there was a cartoon show that had Snuffy Smith Cartoons on. Never saw a Snuffy Smith cartoon since. I got Janie's autograph at the State Fair in about '75 or '76! : )

  • Damn now that's truly old school right there. I ain't seen this since like 1979 and I was like 4. This came on right before the Janie show in the morning before school and they showed Superchicken, Tom Slick, and Wally Gator cartoons. I would eat 2 bowls of either Honeycomb or monster cereal; Booberry, Frankenberry, or the orange werewolf kind (can't remember the name & I never liked Count Chocula).
