him, but I didn't know he'd be one of my most favorite christian artists! And, with throat surgery, Dan Fogelberg lost that high ,beautiful voice, but Michael Card has retained it, along with becoming a better musician for so long, now! Thanks for posting this, because I didn't even know it existed! I must get a copy as soon as possible! In Christ's Love, BobbyK

Michael Card is one of the best contemporary christian artists in the world for the last 30 years or so! Early in my christian life, an older friend gave me a christian-secular chart that lined up the christian artist to the secular artist! Well, Michael Card lined up to Dan Fogelberg, my favorite secular artist, so I know I'd like

thank you very much for posting this song!

This WAS ONE OF THE FIRST contemporary christian SONGS I EVER HEARD
AT FIRST I DIDN'T COMPREHEND IT'S MEANING,BUT ONCE I DID, THOUGHT IT WAS terrific!
A FEW YEARS LATER I SHARED IT acapella AT MY POP'S WEDDING.A FEW MORE YEARS I LEGALLY CHANGED MY NAME TO THAT TITLE.

@talkingfortruth The miracles and all were undeniably amazing, but at the same point His message in many ways flew in the face of the Judaism of the day. Personal relationship with God to a people steeped in ritual based worship, the overwhelming of the sacrificial system of forgiveness, salvation through relationship rather than through the law. As much as people flocked to hear what He said, there were as many cases where people tried to kill him rather than listen to His message.

@KhronosWolf1 If you like this kind of music, the kind of music that makes one think, I would aslo suggest Keith Green. "Asleep in the Light", "Lies", and "Soften Your Heart" are all very good songs. "So You Wanna Go Back to Egypt" is a very fun song too! You are allowed to think what you want but I take this poetic verse literally. @SamWiseGingy I am very curious. Why do you say Christians are irrational? I will admit some are. They do not know why they believe what they believe. I do. :)

I'm not a christian -- very far from it -- but I can appreciate the poetic flow and inspiration displayed in this song.
That said, the people in the comments who are too busy looking for an excuse to self-righteously attack someone else to recognize that 1) poetic verse is not meant to be taken literally and 2) their own holy book uses extremely similar imagery -- such people are, indeed, rather amusing.

"When we in our foolishness thought we were wise
He played the fool and He opened our eyes.
When we in our weakness believed we were strong,
He became helpless to show we were wrong"
That really hit me hard.. :)
He has given us so much and I have to say I'm glad to be counted among the 'foolish' for believing in Him.
Hallelujah! :) Thank you, Lord!
