As I discover new songs from Marty I am more and more convinced that he was the very heart of country music

@SweetLilNibs It's more poetic!

Love this song, Marty as well. Why doesn't he just say he is forty though? What's with the "five and thrity-five" crap??

One of the greatest voices and songwriting talents in the history of Nashville. Marty is another legend who is sadly unknown with country fans today. This song will always remind me of my Mom and uncle who loved this song a lot.

This is such a beautiful song!
Marty's songwriting was exceptional and he always seemed to come up with the most melodic and poetic songs. How songs like his 'Reach For Me' were never released in his lifetime still baffle me. His great ballad 'Ever Since My Baby Went Away' is another of his compositions that he really should have recorded. Jack Greene's version is top notch, but I'd have loved to hear Marty sing it.

I totally agree with you. Bobby Darin was great as as were Don Gibson and Roy Orbison, but Marty was exceptional.
