@kylejaymes True. Here in the U.S., we're in the lower 30th percentile.
-
@alexmanian Exactly...and with the growing apathy that is so apparent in society in general makes it even harder to do such a thing as an organized "protest" directed to senators. Here in Canada, the percentage of elegable voters that voted last election I believe was well under 40% (granted, that election was useless and should not have happened) - but it is scary to think of what can happen as a result of the "I don't care/know" attitude.

@kylejaymes don't worry about it. It's all good. and the last complete governmental reform in the U.S. was the changing of the Articles of Confederation to the U.S. constitution in 1788. I don't believe a governmental reform that drastic is possible given how big the U.S. has grown, but put enough pressure on our Senators using our power as voters to "scare 'em straight" so to speak, then we can at least get a good start. It's going to take a LOT of Americans to do so, tho...

@alexmanian Well, I am sorry too, because obviously something gave you that impression, and it is a fault on my part! I ensure you it was never my intention! :-) Oh, for that, I give you a big "amen!" - deregulation is a scary thing. Look what it did to the US economy! I totally agree with the concept you are pitching, with it being a much bigger problem...I just don't know how to deal with that issue, other than through complete government reform, which really has yet to ever happen.

@kylejaymes I'm sorry. I guess I just got frustrated. It seemed as if you were talking down to as if I was less intelligent. My bad. And just because Business is involved everywhere in our lives doesn't mean it shouldn't be regulated. None of us wants the Gilded Age to return. At least, I should hope not.

@alexmanian I forgot to mention that regarding isolation of business, I knew that is not what you were saying. Business is something that has found its way into essentially every aspect of life - even the way we are communicating right now is run by business! :-D

@alexmanian I am not talking down to you like an "idiot 2 year old that doesn't understand anything." I am merely holding a conversation with you. Never have I insulted you nor taken anything to a personal level. I would be more than happy to continue having a conversation that I felt was intellectual and insightful. I have simply questioned your upset over this, and have yet to really understand fully your point of view. Please tell me what I have done that is highly offensive.

@kylejaymes Ok, 1) I don't believe in the isolation of business. I merely believe that mixing politics and business is as dangerous as mixing politics and religion. 2) I'm looking to solve problems that extend beyond the gay community. In the long run, I believe target is no where near as important and we should save our strength and resources to battle the bigger problems. 3) Please stop talking down to me like I'm an idiot 2 year old that doesn't understand anything. It's highly offensive.
Everthing you said it's soooo true...
