"Grey's Anatomy" returns for its sixth season with a two-hour event on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. In the first hour, entitled "Good Mourning" (9:00-10:00 p.m.), the hospital staff is left to deal with the aftermath of George's passing. Hitting the staff hard, they all find unique ways to get through the various stages of grief. George's mom returns, faced with the difficult task of deciding what to do with his organs. In the second episode, entitled "Goodbye" (10:00-11:00 p.m.), time has passed... Everyone is struggling after losing one of their own and are turning to any distraction they can find. Meredith and Derek seem to be consummating their marriage anywhere and everywhere, while Cristina and Owen have been instructed to abstain from sex by Dr. Wyatt.

I dont understand why izzie has to decide about george's organs. His mother is still alive and izzie is only his ex-one night stand. Alex should stand up for himself and for izzie since she is his wife now. George is Izzie's past.

The episode description says George's mother returns and has to decide what to do with his organs. My guess is that George's mom goes to Callie for help and asks her to decide. Callie doesn't want to make the decision on her own so she wants Izzie to help. In the end, George's mother, ex-wife and friend make the decision to donate his organs. It really is rather silly to get all these people to decide this... but that's TV for ya!

Huh? Where did you get that from? George was in surgery but Derek wasn't able to save him and so he's now braindead. Callie and/or Izzie have to decide if George's organs will be donated or not. Alex just wants to wait a little longer to tell Izzie about George because she almost died and he thinks she may not be strong enough to handle the bad news.

I wouldn't think legally either one could give permission to decide since George's mom is alive and on her way I know they are running out of time but still legally I wouldn't think they could decide legally

Legally, neither Callie nor Izzie can make the decision, it's on George's mother. My guess is that George's mother will put the decision on Callie and she ends up going to Izzie for help on the decision.

Wow, Callie rocks ;) I love the way she says "she's strong enough" at 0:12 - with so much power, wow... she's being so strong, it's impressive. She's also right - Izzie would never forgive Alex if he didn't tell her. But I also get Alex here - he's just worried about his loved one. Great scene, cannot wait till Friday, it's killing me!!
