Please quit watching Fox Propaganda. First, we invaded Iraq because of WMD's. That was a lie. Then we invaded Iraq because Hussein was close with al-Qaida. That was a lie. THEN: it was all about democracy. Let's see...in 2003 "Dubaya" proclaimed "Mission Accomplished". My goodness. What a delay! 5000+ Americans dead in Iraq and some people STILL don't get it. The Iraqis are soooo HOT for the US to leave they can't stand it. Even our military people are saying it: LEAVE IRAQ NOW!

Democracy or not, what the US wants is a "friendly" government. Look at Pakistan, they were a military dictatorship, and we gave them military aid and have been propping up their government since 2001. Same for Saudi Arabia - which is where the 9/11 hijackers came from. And look at Iran before the current theocracy: the Shah, a US puppet if ever there was one, ran a repressive authoritarian state. Spreading democracy is a justification that liberal states use in order to engage in "just" wars.
