When has the Church caused genocide? when was the Church a colonial power? the church actually appeals to the west to give more aid to countries that were colonies- the church certainly never promoted colonialism. as for suppression of the poor to defend the rich, why did benedictine monks give away their whole property and live the life of poor people? why did the franciscan order renounce comfortable life? why did hermits exist? why did monks live in cells?

The church endorsed the killinig of 19 million native Americans during the time span 1492 - 1530. That's a pretty good echievement considering the technology at the time. Though millions died of disease that the conquistadors brought with them. It was not until the 1700 that the church considered Indios as human beings.
