  • hi, jerry! the tune you play starting from 1:05 stuck in my mind for a long time already. so I played it here and there (my m5v sounds pretty similar to yours, btw). but now I looked at this actual video and foun out that I'm doing it wrong. could you please aenlighten some moments?

    1) these double stops: I play G+A# and F+A. am I right?

    2) dead notes: can't figure 'em out at all :)

    thanks :)

  • ...however, I must reiterate that I'd still play an Alder/Rosewood Jazz Bass with the most middy Bart pickups made before I'd pick my a Precision Bass of *any* wood choices (slight exclusion for the Tony Franklin Signature Fretless). And of course I'm making that statement *here* as opposed to on TB - do you think I'm nuts?!?. ;-)

  • After comparing your samples randomized, I think I've come to the undeniable conclusion that as great as your CAR M5V sounds (and your playing *is*), for me the Ash/Maple combo of woods IS "my tone"... at least in the realm of Jazz Basses. My Alder/Zebrawood or Flame Maple/Rosewood Spectors absolutely kill, but it's Apples to CA Oranges. ;-) Plus, they're hardly "stock" Spectors in terms of pups and electronics.

...then again, I've yet to hear an Alder/Maple: best of both worlds, perhaps?
