@Strykercom1 I think so too. We did a lot of damadge. But after over than 60 years of stable democraty and working for peace I think only Germany has still this fears.
At least there is a Medal of Honor and a Medal for Combat Duty right now, while we are changing to a volunteers army of about 180.000 men.
We should never forget the past, but we should life right now.

although, it is probably some resentment and fear still present from world war two. Because if most european countries had their way, germany would not have an army

I don't care what people say about the ARMY, NAVY, MARINES, or AIR FORCE, being a soldier is a dangerous and respectable job. They fight for my freedom to write this right now. I don't care if you hate our government or disagree with this or that. I DO care about people who say that soldiers are cowards or retarded. They defend my safety, my freedom of speech, and for that I am eternally grateful.

Why do we not have this adds in Germany? In U.S. a soldier is honored.
As I went to my basic duty at Bundeswehr there was one guy, who gratulated me, and this was an U.S.-Army-Sergeant.
There is not enough done for german soldiers, and I dont think of me, but for the ones who serve in Afghanistan.
Its like the country doesnt care about them.
