A song about the book by Maurice Sendak. I wrote this song waiting for the movie to come out, remembering the book as a kid, and what it meant to me.
" Where the Wild Things Are "
an open book of dreams in my head again
and the visions of a land so far apart
with a paper moon and stars
and the tree tops that are ours
hiding all of the faces
in the shades of gray
and as I sail across the sea inside of my heart
the waves they crash as they fall apart
I can see onto the other side of the dark
Into where the wild things are
as I stare into the eyes of you and back again
I can feel the warmth through the scars
and as we wade into a friendship new with openness
I can hear you
lay down your guard
as we swing across the tree tops of a new world
with a wild, a wild rumpus and the stars
I can see onto the other side of the dark
Into where the wild things are
I'm safe now, I'm home
no longer am I alone
I'm safe now, I'm home
I'm home
and with an open book of dreams in my head again
I can see the visions inside my heart
where the paper moon and stars
and the tree tops that where ours
they no longer hide the faces
in the shades of gray
they no longer hide the faces
in the shades of gray
excellent
