It doesn't matter if it's Joan Rivers or any average passanger. The way this woman was treated was WRONG. The mistake was entirely with the airline. Joan Rivers did nothing wrong, nor did she cause any trouble. She was treated like garbage, whether on purpose or not, it was indefensable.

If you don't like Joan Rivers, it's a personal problem. If YOU had to NEEDLESSLY endure what she went through, you'd sing a different tune!
