  • I love the song but find the Magners phenomenon really strange. A few years ago there was no such thing as Irish cider - now they seem to have invented it!! People seem prepared to pay way over the odds for what is basically a not bad but very ordinary cider. It seems to be a marketing strategy to put 'Irish' in front of brand names and then charge top dollar. Me and the missus (who is Irish) call it feckin' eejit tax. A lot of idiots seem to be prepared to pay it. marketeers win. again!!

  • -Well, The Galway Girl -By Steve Earl -Was my favourite song -But they sold it off to a cider ad -And my memories went wrong -And i'm asking you son -what's an artist to do -for the kind of money that they offer you -And I drop the needle -Give the record a whirl -But I just can't listen to The Galway Girl XD Love Stewart Lee's version Also I still like the song :)
  • Not as bad as when George Carlin did phone commercials.

  • Sad to see Steve Earle, who I always thought stood up to The Man,allowing his songs to be used as an advertising prop.It would be more acceptable were the product being promoted was a quality product, which Magners is not.

  • @shmoab My family is but I live in Wales

  • @tudortoomey

    Are you from Ireland?

  • @shmoab no way. its to be enjoyed on a summer afternoon. preferably outside a pub, maybe by the sea. or valleys

  • jackpot

  • Interesting. Cider's a winter drink to me and everyone I know, in the US. I like to enjoy it on a cold, overcast, preferably snowing winter day.

  • A was thinkin' that! LOL.
