My mother who is 84 , was 14 when ww2 started , she used to live in Tangmere in West Sussex where Douglas Bader was Stationed at RAF Tangmere , she remembers see the planes take off for the Battle of Britain.

My grandma died today.

Her first husband used to be a Vickers Welington pilot, who was killed in a bombing mission.

So when I found this video it reminded me of many things she told me.

Nice footage of the all around propeller fighter ever made!! If it wasn't for the Spitfires and hurricanes that were outnumbered 4:1 we'd all be speaking German. What a brilliantly designed and flying plane,, waaaay way ahead of its time. Its been rightfully called the plane that saved the world for its role in preventing Hitler from winning the Battle of Britain . Probably the most under appreciated plane in history.how bout those 20 pristine Spits found recently in Burma huh??
