The horses wear special shoes called sliders which helps them. It puts the same kind of pressure on their hind as any stopping from a fast pace. As with any competitive activity, athletic horses can occasionally suffer performance strains and injuries. However these are no different to any other high performance equine discipline. Good prepartory training and good management with the assistance of quality medical care and supervision help lessen the extent of injury and stress related problems.

Very very pretty horse and a very good stop. What is the price range of those shoes you were talking about.

Have a chat with your farrier, it is very important that whoever fits the shoes is experienced at working with reining horses so that they get them set up right.
