One of the famous performers of Azerbaijan National Music- Mugam is singer Zahid Guliyev, winner of Jabbar Garyagdioglu mugam Competition. Zahid Guliyev was born in May 1, 1961 in the region of Jabrail, a picturesque place of beautiful Garabag. He completed his secondary education in 1978. In the years of 1981- 1985 he studied at the Academy of Music named in honor of Asaf Zeynally. Such well- known mugam singers as Hajibaba Huseynov, Sahib Shukurov taught him all the niceties of mugam.
In 1990 he graduated from the Azerbaijan University of Art and Culture and has been teaching mugam at the Department of Mugam since that time. For about 20 years Zahid Guliyev has been representing Azerbaijan Mugam in the International Arena.
With his sweet, high-loud-voice Zahid performs all the mugams and folk songs, song of different composers very masterly and all his concertrusually are with full-houses.
Such classic mugams as "Chahargah", "Shur", "Mahur Hindi", "Bayati Shiraz", "Rahab", "Mirzahuseyn", such folk songs as "Yashilbash Sona", "Gula-gula", "Gara tellar", "Bah-bah," "Ay Gara Giz", "Khumar oldum" are included into the golden stock of Azerbaijan Radio and Television (Broadcasting) Company.
