Have a look at my website http://HydroponicsFriend.com This is a thank you video for Surf Monkey Coconut. I have been watching his videos for some time. I haven't seen much information on growing tobacco so I found his videos very interesting. Plus he has a very clever home made hydroponic system. You can go to his channel here. http://www.youtube.com/user/SurfMonkeyCoconut

You can also buy tobacco seeds and growing supplies from his eBay store. http://myworld.ebay.com/surf_monkey_coconut

So what's with all the Greenscreen stuff? I was just in the mood to play with my greenscreen and get some practice editing. I also left in what should have been out takes. I feel I come across too serious sometimes in most of my videos. I'm not afraid to embarrass myself a little bit especially if it makes someone laugh. Yes, finally got the reflector propped up so it wouldn't fall. I made all the graphics in Gimp and edited it all with Kdenlive.

Enjoy your day and Have Fun! :)

  • Congrats Paul, and great work on the greenscreening. It's fun to make your neighbours think you are crazy! ;o)

  • @SurfMonkeyCoconut My top drip bucket system uses a 5 gallon bucket and I was able to grow a tomato plant over 6 feet tall. Hopefully it will be big enough for a tobacco plant. Looks like I'll have to build a few more this winter. Everything will be an experiment since I never tried growing tobacco before. I will most likely be hitting you up for more advice as I get further into the project. You obviously have infinite patients to count out 500 tiny tobacco seeds per pack. LOL

  • Last tip, note the adult stage height and size: this is where the 'challenge' comes into play for hydro growing. Your substrate will need to be plentiful and large enough to support the plant's root structure, weight and height. However, on the positive side, I've seen entire grow rooms here on youtube of similarly tall plants that have been more than successful...lots of investment though :).

As you've mentioned, I think this may be an excellent project for an outdoor hydro grow next summer

  • This is really awesome!!! Thanks for making this vid! ROCK! That lightsaber will make a satisfactory tool for harvest time! LOL!

Pay special attention to the sowing instructions, their unusually small size make this the most challenging part of growing these plants! But I am certain you will be able to adapt your hydro processes to suit these!
