How the All Season Solar Cooker works

Jim,
Very nice and I like the idea of it being lightweight. My cookers/ovens over the decades have gone from stunningly heavy wood boxes (ugh!), to cardboard with heavy paper insulation, to lower temp panel cookers, to lighter hotter insulated boxes with more reflectors...and maybe lighter yet with your design. I look forward to trying it out. If I need weight to keep it from blowing away it would be easy to place a temporary ceramic tile in the bottom. Well done indeed.

it looks pretty light. how much does it weigh? Concerned about windy conditions, which have ruined so many projects.

Great work! You might actually sell one of these to me out of sheer curiosity.

.I live in Locust Fork, Ala., 33.907deg. N. I am working on other projects (solar panels, wind turbine, passive solar heat), but will be happy to send photo when my rice and beans are done.Thanks.
Thanks very much. Hope you build it. The tile idea will work well. A shiny or mirrored tile will maintain the integrity of the design and allow light to the bottom of the pot. BTW, I use a trivet to hold the pot about 2 inches above the bottom of the cooker - so light can hit the bottom. Campmor.com has a very nice trivet. As well as the pots that I use.

How far north of the equator are you? Have you found a need for a tracker? Cookoo clock mechanism would probably maintain simplicity of your design, which appears very slick IMO.Summer/winter orientation and adjustable focus very clever.May I use this design in my backyard, and share with a few close friends, please?

I have a timing device made from a windup clock , a turntable and some weights. Plans and pictures will be posted in January. I live at 31º N. San Diego. You may use the design. Please send a photo if you decide to build. I cook dry beans on the shortest day of the year - a real challenge for any solar device.

The only charge at this time is that you provide feedback regarding the instructions, and if you build, photos of your finished cooker in use.
I also have a kit available for $30, which I sell at our solar cooking workshops.
