An ESU sound chip with the SWD Class 45 recording set, fitted inside a Bachmann loco. The loco has had some weathering applied, more to come, but I wanted to get the sound more than anything :)

Apologies for only having about 3ft of track working at present, and for the rest of the layout looking like a workbench...

  • Are the sounds automatic (e.g. brakes sounding when you reduce the throttle) or do they have their own controls?

  • Once you turn the sound on (f1 on DCC), it will tick over and rev up with the speed control automatically. The brake sound also comes on automatically. The horns, buffers, coupling clunk etc (there are others, depending on the loco itself) can be controlled by function buttons on your DCC controller.

  • very impressive. Is it difficult to fit the chip?

  • Sounds cool. *jealous*

  • yay, trains! Haven't done that in ages due to living in cramped quarters...but it brings back memories...still, I kept waiting for you to put an army man in front of the train...yeah, I know, I'm a weirdo when I play with stuff, some things never change ;-)
