yay, trains! Haven't done that in ages due to living in cramped quarters...but it brings back memories...still, I kept waiting for you to put an army man in front of the train...yeah, I know, I'm a weirdo when I play with stuff, some things never change ;-)

Are the sounds automatic (e.g. brakes sounding when you reduce the throttle) or do they have their own controls?

Once you turn the sound on (f1 on DCC), it will tick over and rev up with the speed control automatically. The brake sound also comes on automatically. The horns, buffers, coupling clunk etc (there are others, depending on the loco itself) can be controlled by function buttons on your DCC controller.
