A video tutorial explaining how to watch netflix streaming in ubuntu linux. Works pretty well, but it sucks it can't be done natively yet.

BTW, I edited the boot time of XP just to keep the tutorial shorter, but it does indeed boot fast.

  • Great tutorial, I was hoping this would work so I'm glad to see that it does.

Just a question, why do you use the fixed-size virtual hard drive when setting up the VM? Does it actually make a difference, or would a dynamic disk work as well?

  • cheer up people, the microsoft era is over

  • @Flashman2006 Netflix runs on Silverlight, not Flash.

  • Well, this is working rather well. I tried every workaround with the moonlight software and even tried using a default user agent and wine. I've tried EVERYTHING and I really wanted to avoid using a VM to run Netflix, but I had no choice. Well, here's the deal...I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 on a crappy HP Pavillion ze2000 laptop with the worst specs ever. It has a whopping 1Gb of RAM but seems to do the trick. Thanks for your video

  • @ChaseWhatMatterz Please refrain from using the word idiot on the internet. Usually when you use the word idiot on the Internet 9 times out of 10 you are merely how big of an idiot you are b/c you don't read, but instead just jump to whatever you think and then you type it without thinking anything through besides the fact that you are right. Other people have the right to their opinions. Could you sir please explain to me why Netflix currently covers other Linux devices?

  • @ki4jgt Your an idiot. Idk what you have been smoking sir but you should stop. Never has Netflix said that. And to disprove you Netflix is coming out with a client for Linux however it wont be until a year from now. Want proof? Here.

  • @laudiumWP Yay Doctor Who

  • When does the dude actually fucking tell or show how?

Haha Im picking with you Infernal6

I just wanted to act like the standard dumbass youtube kid.

  • Why can't Netflix just use Flash. It has DRM now and it works on Linux. Adobe even released a 64-bit version (finally) for Linux and it has worked for me. Why must they use Silverlight?
