too many people are thinking hes talking about the movie american pie. hes talking about american pie; the day that music died. the plane crash that killed buddy holly, ritchie valens, and the big bopper. 3 music icons from the 1950s. this song makes me cry, for the reason that chris' lyrics are so pure and they have such good reference and meaning.
