The main actor, with glasses;) -Zbigniew Cybulski was in Poland like James Dean. so true, so sensitive and emotional. //

... yes .. it is in fact interesting film !!! and i have full respect to director which is oscar and the cannes festival winner andzej wajda ... but you see ... there is a lot of communist hiden propaganda in it ... i dont blame the director ... he did good job anyway ... it was the system that didnt allowed to him to tell the whole truth ... we were in fact under russian ocupation in many ways ...

I saw this first in the 1960s and now I watch it again while reading Andrzeyevski's novel. It mixes the historical and the personal with such depth and genius. The film and now the book march through my life.
