    Things I learned

    - no need to cut rope

-wrap tie rope around tarp ends as opposed to gromets - save gromets for pole or branch (or stake/peg ) in crappy weather

    - this vid taught me taught ridge lines rule

    - a solo camper CAN set up a good tarp shelter with your over the tree branch drapeing method ( I use a couple of clips, clothes pins or those hard core paper chips on tarp over the ridge line) to hold it while I haul it up into place. 'nuff said - thank you very much.

  • Lynn, thanks for your comments. The 'great revelation' of this procedure is to throw the rope over a high limb then wrap it around the tree. Seems ultra simple but it took me years to figure that out. Before this 'revelation', I use to take a ladder or temporarily park the truck under the tree and stand on the cab, or climb the tree to get the rope high enough. Seems silly now but, hey, we learn by doing don't we? You are right, it becomes second nature very quickly. Go camping! - Ken

  • Good video, but I don't understand why you put the tarp so high. What if it started raining?

  • Height is something you just have to get use to judging for yourself. Notice though, that in order to get the sides high enough to walk under ( 6-7 feet or so ), the center has to be around 10 or so. In this case the trees are probably 40 feet apart so that puts the rope 12 - 15 feet up in the trees as the weight of everything sags the rope. And, of course, by tightening or loosening the rope, you adjust the height of the tarp. Thanks for watching - go camping! Ken

  • Damnit this video makes me want to go camping again !! Last time I went was a little shy of a year ago up in big bear.. There were about 30 of us and we had our own little city there haha, fun stuff !! Next time I would come more prepared.. I think for rope, if you think you have enough, buy or carry double.. A tarp would be nice too.. Once I got to the camp spot I thought of all kinds of things I was missing but it was on a days notice haha.

  • good ideas but the music sucks

  • eyelet.
