Bunk Syd came up with it on the spur of the moment, since they were about to perform on the same bill with a band of the same, the T-Set at the time. They originally called themselves "The Pink Floyd Sound." Then, "The Pink Floyd." Finally, they discarded the definitive article, simply becoming "Pink Floyd."
Ladies and gentleman, meet the man whose name was used as the first half of the supergroup "Pink Floyd." And, no, I am not joking here. btw...the second half was another Georgia bluesman named Floyd Council.
Gilmour wasn't head singer until like the 80s. But this is true, he had nothing to do with Pink Floyd at that time...except the fact he taught syd how to play guitar.
I never said he was head singer, i just said he took over after syd left, roger and and david sang pretty much equally.
And where did hear that help taught him, ive never heard that before, im not callin u a liar, iv just never heard that piece of information, and it would be cool to hear more about that.
It was in some pink floyd documentary, Gilmour and Rogers both said Syd was taught how to play by Gilmour, if you look at them play they do have a lot in common...how they both use random objects to play music and chord progressions and what not.
