Actually, oliver, lots of people said Bush was "doing his best" - he had to work really hard to get the US to invade Iraq. Do you think killing thousands of American soldiers and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis is easy? That's hard work. Destroying the world economy? That takes a lot of effort, and Bush did his best. I give him and Cheney full credit for all their efforts.

Strange that you seem to blame Obama for trying to fix all their mistakes. That's his job.

That's why I say the Iranian Mullahs are afraid of the Obama effect. Look what happened here: the people rose up and kicked out a corrupt incompetant government. American citizens cast away the scales of ignorance, overcame the politics of fear, and took a chance on hope. You bet the Iranian fundies are scared. We threw out the American Taliban, and it could happen to the Iranian version too. Young people in Iran say Yes We Can!

The republicans are simply trying to slow things down so they can get a look at everything. And I don't think dems said about Bush at ANY time, He's doing his best given the circumstances. Obama is trying to push through EVERYTHING. He is trying to change everything at once. He needs to slow down a little bit. And the Iranians leaders aren't scared of the obama effect, they are affraid that they will loose their dictatorship in their country.

Obama has made some very effective overtures to Iran. It's true that we haven't engaged in face-to-face negotiations, but that is because the Iranian hardliners are terrified of the Obama effect on their own population. You can see what effect it's already had. Progressive Iranians are demanding change, and putting their lives on the line to get it. All Obama had to do was reach out a hand in friendship, and the Mullahs got slapped in the face. Brilliant.

I think Obama is doing about as well as possible, given the circumstances. The Repugs are obstructing and delaying every step of the way, and conservative Dems aren't much better. The Repugs left the economy a toxic mess, and Obama has done an excellent job of bringing it back to life. GM slashed it's own tires, and health insurance companies slashed their own throat.

Obama has to fix the problems created by the GOPbumpkins before he can make progress in other areas.

OK. It has been a year now. Iran and North Korea are threatening a nuclear war, and Obama has yet to try and sit down with them, which he promised to do. A 3.4 trillion dollar budget was passed. The government owns 60% of GM. The banking industry is being nationalized. A health care bill is being written that will run private health care companies out of business. And an energy bill is on its way through that will cost EVERY American $160 a year. Your thoughts now?
